Light Waves
Science: KS3, topic 3.3.16
Light Waves
Light is a form of electromagnetic radiation that travels as waves. The Earth gets its light from our nearest star, The Sun.

Light
- Travels as transverse waves.
- Light is electromagnetic radiation.
- Light can travel through a vacuum.
- The Sun's light takes about eight minutes to reach us, travelling at 300,000,000 m/s.

Light through objects
- Objects that do not allow light to transmit or pass through are called opaque.

Transparent objects
- Glass and other see-through objects are transparent because light can be transmitted through them.

Translucent objects
- Translucent objects scatter light.
- So not all light is transmitted, such as privacy windows in bathrooms and walk-in showers.
