Solubility
Science: KS3, topic 2.1.20
Soluble Salts
Soluble salts are salts which dissolve in water.

Making soluble salts
- We can produce soluble salts through a reaction between acids and solid, insoluble substances such as pure metals, metal oxides, metal hydroxides, or metal carbonates.

E.g. blue copper sulfate
- Blue copper sulfate crystals are produced by adding black copper oxide to sulfuric acid:
- CuO(s) + H2SO4(aq) → CuSO4(aq) + H2O(l)

What do we call salts that dissolve in water?
What are the products of the reaction between copper oxide and sulfuric acid?
What is commonly reacted together to produce a soluble salt?
Pure metals are solid, insoluble substances. What type of salt forms when a pure metal reacts with an acid?
