Plant Tissues
Science: KS3, topic 1.1.11
Plant Organs
Plants have similar levels of biological organisation to animals. Tissues are groups of similar cells that act together to perform a specific function. Different types of tissues make up the major plant organs:

Stems
- Stems are examples of plant organs.

Roots
- Roots are examples of plant organs.
- Meristem tissue is found at the growing tips of shoots and roots.
- The undifferentiated cells of meristem tissue repeatedly divide and grow.

Leaves
- Leaves are examples of plant organs.

Reproductive structures
- Reproductive structures are examples of plant organs.
Test yourself on Plant Tissues
What is true about how plants are organised, compared to animals?
What would most likely happen to a plant shoot if its meristem tissue at the tip were destroyed?
