Double Circulatory System
The human circulatory system has three main parts: blood vessels, blood, and the heart. This system is called a double circulatory system. The blood passes through the heart twice in one circuit.

Blood enters the heart
- Deoxygenated blood from the body enters the right atrium of the heart.

Blood pumped to lungs
- The right ventricle pumps this deoxygenated blood to the lungs.

Lungs oxygenate the blood
- In the lungs, the blood exchanges carbon dioxide for oxygen. The blood becomes oxygenated.

Blood returns to heart
- Oxygenated blood goes back to the left atrium of the heart.

Blood pumped to the body
- The left ventricle pumps this oxygenated blood to the body.

Blood returns to the heart
- The body cells take the oxygen from the blood and give back carbon dioxide.
- The blood becomes deoxygenated again and goes back to the heart.
