These beliefs and values include ceremonies, rituals, clothing, art, and even food.
Social scientists study the similarities and differences of forms of expression.
The differences can happen because of geographical and cultural contexts.

Similarities between forms of expression

Even though different religions have different celebrations, some forms of expression are similar.
Many religious holidays involve gathering with family and friends.
- Sharing food is also common in religious celebrations.

Example: Christmas and Pesach (Passover)

Christians celebrate Christmas by giving gifts, decorating trees, and attending church services. Families have a special meal together.
Jewish people celebrate Pesach by eating symbolic foods, such as matzah, and retelling the story of the Exodus from Egypt.
Both of these celebrations express important beliefs about freedom and love.
Both celebrations use food and gathering to express gratitude and unity.

Differences in forms of expression

For example, Christmas in the UK includes winter traditions like snow, reindeer, and warm clothing.
However, Christmas in Australia is celebrated in the summer, so Australians might go to the beach and have a barbecue for Christmas.
