The Covenant with Abraham is the agreement God made with Abraham.

The covenant with Abraham

In this covenant, Abraham was faithful to God and followed his instructions.
- Meanwhile, God promised Abraham the Land of Israel and to be the head of a large nation.
But, Abraham didn’t have it easy.
- There were challenges along the way and tests that God put him through.

Abraham's challenges

Abraham's descendants would have to suffer exile and slavery for 400 years.
- After this, they would be freed to experience the promises that God had given to Abraham.
Abraham had two children.
- The first called Yishmael/Ismail was born to Hagar/Hajar and becomes the ancestor of Muslims.
- The second son, Isaac/Yitzchak was born to Sarah and becomes the ancestor of the Jewish people.

Judaism and Islam

Judaism & Islam tell different stories about Abraham from this point on.
- The Torah is significant to Christians and Jews. It continues the story from the perspective of Abraham and Isaac and focuses on Jewish people.
- The Qur’an is the Muslim holy book. It develops the story from the perspective of Ismail and later Muhammad.
