  • The performer holds the dynamometer in their dominant (leading) hand. The arm should be at 90 degrees with the elbow tucked in against the body.
  • The performer needs to squeeze the device as hard as they can to record their score. Their score can be compared against a general rating scale.

  • This is an appropriate test for performers in judo because they need to have good holds.

Speed Test - 30m Sprint

Equipment needed: two cones 30m apart, a tape measure and a stopwatch.

  • Using a flying start (starting point is passed at speed), the performer must complete the 30m sprint in the quickest time possible.
  • Their score is recorded in seconds and can be compared against a rating scale.

  • This is an appropriate test for 100m sprinters because being quick is the aim of the event.

Flexibility Test - Sit and Reach Test

Equipment needed: sit and reach box, slider.

Process

  • The performer needs to sit on the floor with their feet flat against the box. Their legs must be fully straight and their shoes should be removed.
  • The slider should be set at 14 cm in line with the toes. The performer reaches forward and pushes the slider as far as they can.
