Retina Scanning

Biology: AQA GCSE Higher, topic 5.2.10

Retina Scanning

Your retina is full of receptor cells, which are sensitive to both the brightness (light intensity) and the colour of light.

Scanning the retina

Retina scanning looks at the pattern of blood vessels in your retina to identify you.

Test yourself on Retina Scanning

  • What does retina scanning examine in order to identify a person?

  • Why can light enter the eye through the cornea but not through the sclera?

  • What happens to visual information after it is detected by receptor cells in the retina?
