  • The Bible says that everyone is made in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26).
  • The Constitution of the United States begins: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by the Creator with certain unalienable rights”.
  • The Universal Declaration of Human Rights written by the United Nations (UN) says that all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.

  • Some people point out that, in reality, not everyone is equal.
    • Some people are born stronger, more intelligent, or better at sports.
  • Equality does not mean that everyone has the same abilities - it means that everyone should have the same rights and opportunities.
  • No one should be given an advantage or face discrimination because of their race, gender, or social class.
