Samsara & Mukti

Samsara

Samsara

  • Sikhi teaches that every person has a soul (Atma) that is eternal.
  • The soul goes through many cycles of birth, death, and rebirth. The cycle is called Samsara.
  • What happens in each life depends on a person’s karma.
  • Good actions, kindness, and devotion to God bring the soul closer to Waheguru (God).
  • Selfishness, greed, or cruelty keep the soul trapped in the cycle of rebirth.
Karma

Karma

  • Karma means that every action has a consequence.
  • If a person lives truthfully and helps others, they build good karma.
  • Living by the values of honesty, equality, and service (Sewa) leads to spiritual growth.
    • Prayer and meditation show devotion to Waheguru and also purify the soul.
  • The aim is not to escape life, but to live it in a way that brings closeness to God.
Mukti

Mukti

  • Sikhi does not focus on heaven and hell as physical places. It emphasises unity with Waheguru as the ultimate goal.
  • When a person achieves Mukti, their soul becomes one with Waheguru.
    • Mukti means spiritual liberation. It is freedom from the cycle of rebirth.
  • Mukti is reached through truthful living, selfless service, and meditation on God’s name (Naam Simran).
