Isaac was one of Abraham's sons. Isaac, along with his son Jacob, is an important figure in the ancestry of the Jewish people.

    • The 12 sons develop into the 12 tribes of Israel.
  • Jacob is given the name Israel by God as an extra name.
    • In original Hebrew, Israel means "wrestles with God".
  • Jacob, like Isaac (his father) and Abraham (his grandfather) is challenged by God.
    • His 12 sons struggle to get on with each other. Eventually, Josef (the 11th son) is sold to Egypt.

  • After many years, the 12 sons have large families, creating big tribes.
    • Then there is a famine & the other brothers visit Egypt to get food.
    • The King of Egypt is worried about Jacob's growing family and tries to kill all male Jewish babies. But, instead enslaves all Jewish people.
