Core Belief
No Brahman
- Unlike Hindu Dharma, Buddhism does not teach belief in Brahman (the ultimate reality).
- The Buddha did not focus on gods. He focused on understanding yourself and reducing suffering.
- He taught that everything changes. Peace comes from seeing the world clearly, not from worshipping a god.
- Instead of looking outward for truth, Buddhists look to their own minds and actions.
Self-transformation
- Buddhism teaches that people can self-transform.
- Self-transformation means changing your thoughts, actions, and feelings to become wiser and kinder.
- People must understand how their mind works, so they can let go of greed, anger, and ignorance.
- Living ethically and mindfully leads to inner peace. It helps others live in harmony.
Wisdom and ethical practice
- Wisdom (Prajna) → life is always changing. Clinging to things causes suffering.
- Ethical practice (Sila) → acting with kindness, honesty, and respect for all living beings.
- Wisdom and ethics guide Buddhists towards nirvana, where suffering ends.
- People can find truth and peace through their own actions, not by believing in a god.
- Buddhism encourages people to take responsibility for their own spiritual journey.
