What was the Significance of these Inventions?
A wave of new inventions in the later half of the 1700s allowed Britain to begin producing cotton on a huge scale and export this abroad for hefty profits.

Speed of invention
- Bear in mind that all these inventions happened in quick succession, as one invention rapidly inspired another, and machines were swiftly made more efficient over a few decades.

The cotton industry
- Within the space of a few decades, the cotton industry was transformed.
- Cotton was no longer produced in small quantities, by hand.
- It could now be produced in much larger quantities and much more quickly, with a cotton worker overseeing the work done by a machine, rather than doing the work themselves!
