Amount of Substance in Relation to Volumes and Gas
Chemistry: AQA GCSE Higher, topic 3.1.26
Use of Amount of Substance in Relation to Volumes and Gases
If the temperature and pressure conditions are the same, the same amounts of any gases (when measured in moles) will take up identical volume.

Room temperature and pressure
- 1 mole of a gas will take up 24 dm3 at room temperature (20°C) and pressure (1 atm).

Calculating volumes
- When given the volume of 1 gas involved in a reaction between gases, the balanced equation for the reaction can be used to calculate the volume of any other component.

What is the volume of 2 moles of any gas at room temperature and pressure?
If the ratio of gas A moles to gas B moles is 5 : 2, what is the ratio of gas A volume to gas B volume?
What are the values for room temperature and pressure?
What is the volume of 0.5 moles of any gas at room temperature and pressure?
Gas X and gas Y both contain 3 moles and are measured at the same temperature and pressure. What is true about their volumes?
