Examples of Evolution

Evolution of horses
- Millions of years ago, horses had five toes.
- Those early horses walked mainly on their middle toe.
- With time, the side toes became less useful and were lost over millions of years.
- Now horses only have one toe, called a hoof.

Giraffes
- Scientists are still unsure exactly why giraffes have long necks.
- One theory is that the long necks of giraffes have evolved as they helped giraffes to reach the leaves on tall trees.
