Health & Safety
It is important to keep yourself, your colleagues and your equipment safe during an experiment.

Risk assessment
- Doing a risk assessment means thinking about how likely it is that something harmful will happen and how serious that could be.
- You must do a risk assessment before starting your experiment.

Calm and controlled
- To reduce risks, behaviour during a practical investigation must be calm.
- To reduce risks, equipment must be used correctly.

Safety precautions
- You can also reduce risks by:
- Wearing goggles to protect your eyes.
- Using tongs to stop you getting burnt by hot things.
- Making sure people wash their hands afterwards to stop germs from spreading.
