Causes of Endangering
Biology: Cambridge International GCSE Supplement, topic 20.4.10
Why do Species Become Endangered?
A lot of the reasons for why species become endangered (listed below) are to do with human interactions with biodiversity. Consequently, programmes have been established by scientists and governments that attempt to reduce the negative impact of humans.

Climate change
- For example the habitat they occupy becomes too warm.
- Melting sea ice at polar regions removes the habitat for many migrating species.

Habitat destruction
- Through deforestation, agriculture or other processes.

Hunting

Pollution

Introduced species
- Introduced species can change food webs in a way that threatens certain species.
