Using times tables

  • Let's say we want to work out 36 x 4.
  • We can use our 4 times table to work it out:
    • We know that 3 x 4 = 12.
    • That means 30 x 4 = 120.
    • We know that 6 x 4 = 24.

Add together

  • To work out 36 x 4, we just add together 30 x 4 and 6 x 4:
    • 120 + 24 = 144
  • That means 36 x 4 = 144.
