When we add or take away 10 from a number, we need to focus on the tens column.

To add 10, we add 1 to the number in the tens column:
- 569 + 10 = 579

Find 10 less

Find 10 less

To take away 10, we subtract 1 from the number in the tens column:
- 569 - 10 = 559

To do this, change the 9 to a 0 and add 1 to the number in the hundreds column:
