Circuit diagrams can be used to show a circuit. Circuit diagrams are made up of a combination of symbols.

Battery, bulb, wires & switch

This is a circuit diagram that has 1.5 V battery.
The switch is on and the bulb lights up.

Increasing the voltage

When another 1.5 V battery is added, the bulb becomes brighter.
The bulb gets brighter because there is a higher voltage.
Greater voltage makes more current flow around the circuit.

Too much voltage

If there is too much voltage, the current gets too high.
The wire in the bulb could melt if the current gets too high.
The wire melting results in the bulb blowing.
