Social scientists
- Social scientists study how humans live, think, and express their beliefs.
- They study religious expression. This is how people show their faith in daily life.
- Social scientists study:
- How different groups express the same ideas in different ways.
- How religion shapes communities
- How culture shapes religion.

Similarities
- Many religions share similar values, even if they express them in different ways.
- For example, it's common for many religions to:
- Help the poor
- Pray
- Have a place of worship
- Have music and songs

Differences within religious groups
- Within the same religion, people can express faith in different ways. For example:
- Some Christians prefer quiet prayer, while others enjoy lively singing and dancing.
- Some Muslims wear traditional dress every day, while others wear it only during prayer.
- Some Sikhs are part of the Khalsa, while others don't follow such strict rules.

Geographical and cultural contexts
- Differences within and between religions are shaped by culture, geography, and history. Examples:
- Christians in Nigeria might worship with drums and dancing, while Christians in the UK might sing hymns in a church choir.
- Hindus in India might worship at large, open-air temples, while Hindus in the US adapt to smaller temple spaces.
- Muslims in Saudi Arabia might hear prayers broadcast from mosques, while Muslims in Spain pray at work, school or at home.

Diversity in the UK
- The UK is a multicultural society, with people from many religions and backgrounds. You might see:
- A mosque and a church near each other.
- Sikhs offering free food at festivals.
- Hindus celebrating Diwali in Leicester.
- Christians collecting food for charity at Christmas.
- Jewish and Muslim working together on community projects.
- Social scientists study how religious diversity adds richness to British life.
