Afterlife
Religious Studies: KS3, topic 1.3.7
Beliefs about the Afterlife
Christians believe that death is not the end of their existence. After death, they experience a form of resurrection (rising from the dead).

Resurrection
- Christian Creeds talk about the ‘resurrection of the body,’ but this means a body that will not corrupt.
- Most Christians believe they have an immaterial soul that lives forever.
- Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die” (John 11:25-26 NIV).

Heaven and hell
- Christians believe that at the Last Judgement, God will judge them based on how they lived their lives.
- After judgment, they may be welcomed into Heaven or sent to Hell.

Influence on life
- Belief in the afterlife encourages Christians to live a good life and have a relationship with God, hoping to go to Heaven.
