Weathering
Geography: KS3, topic 9.1.1
Shaping of Coastlines
Geomorphic processes include weathering, erosion, deposition and transportation. These processes play a major role in the appearance of our coasts. The geology of an area is also very important.

Weathering
- The process of weathering plays an important role in determining the shape and structure of rocky coastlines.
- The three forms of weathering are:
- Freeze-thaw weathering.
- Biological weathering.
- Chemical weathering.

Geology
- The geology of an area means the types of rock that it is made up of.
- Different types of rocks have different levels of resistance to geomorphic processes.
- Different levels of resistance to geomorphic processes of rocks affect the landforms seen on coastlines.
