The Rock Cycle - Erosion
Geography: KS3, topic 7.1.5
The Rock Cycle - Erosion
Rocks do not stay the same forever; they are constantly changing and being affected by conditions on planet earth as part of the rock cycle.

Erosion
- Erosion is another stage of the rock cycle.
- Erosion is different from weathering because broken pieces of rock are moved away from the site of weathering.
- So, rocks are broken up and moved away to another place.

Transportation
- Once erosion has taken place or even before a rock has been eroded or weathered, it can be transported.
- Transportation is another part of the rock cycle.
- Rocks are be moved by waves, rivers or wind.

Transportation in rivers
- In rivers, the faster the water flows, the larger the material that it can carry.
- In a slow flowing river, only small pieces of rock can be carried.
