Multiplication Rules
We need to remember the following rules to work out multiplication questions:

Multiplying by 0
- Any number multiplied by zero is equal to zero.
- This is because there is nothing to multiply.
- 4 × 0 = 0
- 182 × 0 = 0
- 2,455 × 0 = 0

Multiplying by 1
- If we multiply by 1, our answer will be the same as the number we started with.
- 36 × 1 = 36
- 1,452 × 1 = 1
- 37,424 × 1 = 37,424

Dividing by 1
- If we are dividing by 1, then our original number won’t change.
- Think about it like dividing the number in to one piece, the number doesn't change.
- 23 ÷ 1 = 23
- 934 ÷ 1 = 934
- 3495 ÷ 1 = 3495

Multiplying three numbers
- We can use number facts to help us with multiplying 3 numbers.
- 3 x 4 x 8 = ?
- We know that 3 x 4 = 12
- That leaves us with 12 x 8 = ?
- From the 12 times tables, 12 x 8 = 96
