Maths: Year 3 & 4 National Curriculum, topic 3.1.1
Size of Angles
We use the word angle to describe the amount of turn between two straight lines that meet at a point. Angles are measured in degrees.

A full turn
- A full turn of a circle is 360°.
- When the minute hand goes from 12 all the way around back to 12, it would have done a 360° turn.

Quarter past
- A quarter of a full turn is 90°.
- We call a 90° angle a right-angle.
- When the minute hand goes from 12 to quarter past, it would have done a 90° turn.

Half past
- Half of a full turn is 180°.
- When the minute hand goes from 12 to half past, it would have done a 180° turn.

Quarter to
- Three quarters of a full turn is 270°.
- When the minute hand goes from 12 to quarter to, it would have done a 270° turn.
