Representing Numbers
We can use objects to represent numbers by counting how many of them are there.

Shapes
- In the picture, each square represents a 1.
- The shape is made of 6 squares.
- So we can represent the number 6 by this shape.

Number line
- We can show numbers on a number line.
- The numbers on a number line start at 0 on the left and get bigger as you go to the right.

Place value
- We can use shapes to represent numbers in a place value grid.
- The grid shown represents the number 532.
- The hundreds column has 5 counters.
- The tens column has 3 counters.
- The ones column has 2 counters.
