Answering Retrieval Questions
Retrieval questions need you to get information directly from the text. You should NOT use information in your head to answer retrieval questions.

Answering retrieval questions
- To answer retrieval questions, look for the answers in the text.
- You should NOT answer retrieval questions with information in your head!
- The information we need does NOT come from our general knowledge or imagination.
- The information comes from what the text tells us.

Highlight the answer
- To be sure we have the right information, find the part in the text with the answer.
- Then we should highlight the part of the text that gives us the answer.

Example: text
- According to the text below, why are fish popular pets?
- Fish are very popular pets because they do not require much attention and they can be left at home alone.

Example: answer
- We can highlight the information, and write the exact words as our answer.
- Fish are very popular pets because they do not require much attention, and they can be left at home alone.
- You might think people buy fish because they're cheap and look nice...
- But this is not written in the text, so it cannot be your answer!
