Structure in Poetry
Structure is how a text is set out or organised. There are structures that are only used in poetry.

Verse
- A verse is a part of the structure of poetry.
- A verse is like a paragraph but in a poem.
- Poems are usually made up of several verses.
- Each verse is separated by a blank line.

Verse cont.
- Verses in poetry are usually just one sentence.
- Each line of a poem usually ends with a comma.
- But we can tell a verse has finished when we see a full stop.

Example
- This poem has one verse:
- The sun is bright,
It shines all day.
It warms the earth,
In every way.
Test yourself on Structure in Poetry: Verses
What is a verse in poetry?
How many verses does this poem have?
The wind blows fast,
Through field and tree. The sky turns grey,
Then rains on me.How many verses does this poem have?
The birds all sing,
At break of day.The flowers bloom,
In bright array. The world feels new,
In every way.
