A metaphor is a type of figurative language.

Metaphors: use

- But in a metaphor, the comparison is hidden by saying one thing is another thing.

- His eyes were emeralds.
- His eyes are not actually emeralds.
- His eyes are bright green and beautiful, like emeralds.
