Answering Summary Questions
Summarising is when we explain what a text is about.

Summaries
- We write a summary in our own words, outlining the main idea, without all the details.
- A summary will be much shorter than the text it describes.
- Think of a summary as a subtitle for the bit of text it is summarising.

Example: text
- A panda is a type of bear that lives in bamboo forests in the mountains of China. They very occasionally eat other animals, but their diet mainly consists of bamboo. They need to eat a lot of it, and it is not unusual for them to spend 12 hours a day eating. Pandas grow to around 1.5 metres tall, but when they are born they could fit in your hand.

Example: summary
- This paragraph could be summarised as 'Information about pandas'.
