Radical Changing Stems (I → Y)

Most IR verbs that end in 'uir' change their stem in the 'él/ella' and 'ellos/ellas' forms of the preterite tense. In certain forms, these verbs drop the 'i' and use 'y' instead, to maintain pronunciation.
