Radically Changing AR Verb Stems

AR verbs that have radically changing stems in the present tense have the same radically changing stems in the present subjunctive. Remember these verbs do not change in the 'nosotros' and 'vosotros' forms.

Cerrar - to close

Cierre - I close.
Cierres - you close.
Cierre - he/she closes.
Cerremos - we close.
Cerréis - you close.
Cierren - they close.

Probar - to try, to taste

Pruebe - I try.
Pruebes - you try.
Pruebe - he/she tries.
Probemos - we try.
Probéis - you try.
Prueben - they try.

Spelling Changes ('GAR' → 'GU')

To preserve the sound 'g', verbs that end in 'gar' change the ‘g’ to 'gu' in the subjunctive. For example:

Entregar - to hand in

Entregue - I hand in.
Entregues - you hand in.
Entregue - he/she hands in.
Entreguemos - we hand in.
Entreguéis - you hand in.
Entreguen - they hand in.

Cargar - to load

Cargue - I load.
Cargues - you load.
Cargue - he/she loads.
Carguemos - we load.
Carguéis - you load.
Carguen - they load.

Jugar - to play

It is important to note that 'jugar' follows its irregular pattern from the present tense as well as this one.
- Juegue - I play.
- Juegues - you play.
- Juegue - he/she plays.
- Juguemos - we play.
- Juguéis - you play.
- Jueguen - they play.
