Factors Affecting Risk
Geography: AQA GCSE, topic 1.1.3
Which Factors Affect Hazard Risk?
Hazard risk is the likelihood of an event caused by a natural hazard happening (so the move from a natural hazard existing to a natural disaster happening). The factors that influence hazard risk include:

Population density
- If there are more people living in an area, it is more likely that more people will be impacted by natural hazards.

Ability to cope
- Different populations of people do different activities and have different abilities to deal with the risks of natural hazards and the events of a natural disaster.
