You need to be able to put all different types of fraction in order from smallest to largest.

  • There are three different types of fraction:
    • Proper fraction (e.g. 23\large\frac{2}{3}).
    • Improper fraction (e.g. 32\large\frac{3}{2}).
    • Mixed fraction (e.g. 123\large\frac{2}{3}).

  • To order proper, improper and mixed fraction, you need to convert them so:
    • All the fractions are either proper or improper fractions.
    • All the fractions have the same denominator (bottom number).

  • All fractions should be converted to proper or improper.
  • Fractions that are already proper or improper fractions will stay the same.

  • Start by finding a multiple that all of the denominators have.
    • 12 is a multiple of 2, 4 and 6.
    • You want to make all the denominators the same.
