Types of fraction

There are three different types of fraction:
- Proper fraction (e.g. $\large\frac{2}{3}$ ).
- Improper fraction (e.g. $\large\frac{3}{2}$ ).
- Mixed fraction (e.g. 1 $\large\frac{2}{3}$ ).

Ordering fractions

To order proper, improper and mixed fraction, you need to convert them so:
- All the fractions are either proper or improper fractions.
- All the fractions have the same denominator (bottom number).

All fractions should be converted to proper or improper.
Fractions that are already proper or improper fractions will stay the same.

All denominators the same

Start by finding a multiple that all of the denominators have.
- 12 is a multiple of 2, 4 and 6.
- You want to make all the denominators the same.
