Remembering Times Tables

To further understand times tables, you can look at ‘number families’ to find links within a times table.

6× table

6× table

  • You can use your doubles to help you remember times tables.
    • As the number you are multiplying by doubles, the answer also doubles. For example:
      • 1 × 6 = 6
      • 2 × 6 = 12
Using times table facts

Using times table facts

  • You can also use times table facts you already know to support learning the ones you find harder to remember. For example:
    • I know that 8 × 6 = 48.
    • So I know that I need to subtract 6 to remember that 7 × 6 = 42.
