  • 21 × 8 can be broken down into two easier calculations by partitioning 21.
    • 20 × 8 = 160
    • 1 × 8 = 8
  • Finally, add the two answers.
    • 21 × 8 = 160 + 8 = 168
Division using times tables

Division using times tables

  • 144 ÷ 12 = 12
    • You can work this out using your 12 times table.
  • 360 ÷ 4 = 90
    • You know that 36 ÷ 4 = 9 from you 4 times table.
    • So 360 ÷ 4 = 9 × 10 = 90
