Energy consumption in Bangladesh has been increasing year on year. This has caused issues that are now being tackled by the Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA).

    • They produced 55 billion kWh but only used 48 billion kWh.
  • Since 1971, energy use per capita has increased from 85 kilograms of oil equivalent to 222 kilograms in 2014.

  • To improve energy security in the future the government has implemented a new initiative to promote the development of renewable energy.
    • This initiative is called the Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA).
