  • In developed countries, an example of making urban areas more sustainable is the introduction of recycling schemes.
  • London aims to reduce household waste by 10% by 2020. One way to help this target be met is by making recycling easier for the population.

  • Recycling means that fewer resources have to be extracted from the earth and processed into goods because resources can be reused.
  • Recycling makes sure that resources are available for future generations to use.
  • In many parts of London, bins have been introduced that make recycling easier for people. These bins are in public places and encourage you to sort your plastic, cardboard and paper, and food waste into separate compartments for recycling.
