Electricity can only flow around a circuit if the circuit is complete. A complete circuit has no break in the wire in the circuit.

- The lamp will only turn off when the circuit is broken.

- A switch is a component (part of a circuit) that breaks a circuit.
- Switches can be used to break a circuit to turn off the lights in your home.
