Random events

  • Random events are ones where the outcome is uncertain.
  • For example when a normal 6-sided dice is rolled the result could be 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6.

Fairness and bias

  • Fair means that each outcome is equally likely.
  • A dice is called fair if each of the numbers is equally likely to appear.
  • Similarly a coin is called fair if each face is equally likely to come up when the coin is tossed.
  • A coin or a dice that is not fair is called biased.
