Sample space

  • The sample space of events is all of the possible outcomes of the events.
  • The sample space of throwing a head or tails when flipping a coin twice can be written as: (H, H), (H, T), (T, H), (T, T).

  • A two way table shows the outcomes of two events.
  • The outcomes of one event label the rows and the outcomes of the second event label the columns.
  • The overall outcome can then be written in for each combination.
