Coordinates
Co-ordinates involve plotting an x (horizontal) co-ordinate and a y (vertical) co-ordinate.

Point (2,1)
- The point (2,1) has x-coordinate 2 and y-coordinate 1.

Axes
- The x-axis is the horizontal axis. On the x axis, the y co-ordinate is 0.
- The y-axis is the vertical axis. On the y axis, the x co-ordinate is 0.
Straight Line Graphs

Vertical lines
- Vertical lines are written as:
- x = 2

Horizontal lines
- Horizontal lines are written as y = a:
- y = 1

Straight lines through the origin
- Sloping lines are written as y = mx.
- m tells you the gradient of the line.
- If m is negative the graph slopes down from top left to bottom right.
- The larger m is, the steeper the slope of the line is.
