Proxy Servers (Proxies)
A proxy server is a computer which sits between a user’s computer and the internet and acts on behalf of the user when accessing web pages, for example.

Privacy
- The user’s IP address is hidden by the proxy server, allowing anonymous use of the internet.

Speed
- Proxy servers hold a cache of regularly visited websites.
- The cache is available to the user on request without having to access the internet.

Link to VPNs
- Proxy servers work in a similar way to Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).
- Proxy servers are less secure as proxy servers don’t encrypt data.
