Finalising Your Conclusion

There are things you should write about in your conclusion that do not link directly to what you did or the results you got.

Comparing results to research

'How do your results relate to your subject knowledge, what you have read or what you know about in the real world?'

Difficulties & issues

You should write about the difficulties, issues and surprises you faced.
- 'Were there any variables that you could not control?'
- 'Were there aspects that affected the reliability of your results, such as difficulty with measuring, interruptions?'

Further work

You should discuss what further work will happen following the results of your investigation.
- 'Are there issues that could be sorted out in a further test?'
- 'Is there another test that would help to separate different variables that might have affected this one?'
- 'Is there something you could suggest that needs investigation but with more specialist equipment?'

References

References tell the reader where you got your information from.
When you write down your references, you 'cite' your sources.
- 'Citing' your sources means writing down all the authors, articles and websites where you got any information you used in your writing.
