  • The amphibian hatches from eggs or can be born alive from the mother.

  • Young amphibians spend their early life underwater.
    • They get oxygen by breathing through gills.
    • In frogs, tadpoles develop from frogspawn with little else other than a tail.
    • Tadpoles then develop rear legs before their front legs.
    • Tadpoles will also start to develop and breathe through lungs.
    • The process of tadpoles changing into frogs is called metamorphosis.
