It is important to use the correct measuring equipment.

Time

We use stopwatches to measure time.

Temperature

We use thermometers to measure temperature.

Mass

We use scales to measure mass.

Volume

We use measuring cylinders, pipettes, and burettes to measure volume.
- Burettes and pipettes offer high precision and accuracy but are fragile and require careful handling.
- Measuring cylinders are easier to use and more durable but less precise.
We can also measure the volume of gases with certain instruments.
- Gas syringes provide precise gas measurements.
- Inverted cylinders capture gas over water for approximate volume readings in experiments.
