Adding an 's'

  • In English, we usually make plurals by adding an 's' to the end of the word.
    • pencil → pencils
  • In Spanish, we also usually make plurals by adding an '-s'.
  • You can do this when the word ends in a vowel ('a', 'e', 'i', 'o', 'u'),
    • perro (dog) perros (dogs)

  • If a noun ends in a consonant, you make it plural by adding ‘-es’.
    • un papel - a (piece of) paper
    • unos papeles - some papers
