The energy stored in food is measured in calories. If we eat or drink more than we should, the body stores these extra calories as fat.

  • Labels normally tell us the number of calories, sugars, fats, saturated fats and salts.
  • If the food label mentions calories, it normally states how many calories are per serving, portion, or 100g of the food, not the whole product.
