Locational Prepositions
These prepositions are used to describe where something is:

Sur - on
- La nourriture est sur la table .
- The food is on the table.
- Le stylo est sur le bureau .
- The pen is on the desk.

Sous - under
- Le chien est sous mon lit.
- The dog is under my bed.
- Mon stylo est tombé sous sa chaise.
- My pen fell under his chair.

Dans - in
- Dans ma valise.
- In my suitcase.
- Je suis dans ma chambre.
- I am in my room.

Derrière - behind
- Il est assis derrière un grand bureau.
- He is sat behind a big desk.
- Derrière notre dos.
- Behind our backs.

Devant - in front of
- Ma voiture est garée devant la maison.
- My car is parked in front of the house.
- Il y a beaucoup de gens devant la mairie.
- There are a lot of people in front of the town hall.

À côté de - next to
- À côté de l'hôtel.
- Next to the hotel.
- À côté du frigo.
- Next to the fridge
